Canon ZR800 Mini DV Camcorder plays on LCD but is distorted with firewire ot TV jack?

I take footage with my Canon ZR800 Mini DV Camcorder. When I playback the footage on the camera’s LCD screen. The footage is fine. When I connect a cable to the camcorder to view or download footage, the screen gets garbled with horizontal lines which are lagging and distorting the image. This distortion happens when I connect to my Firewire connection or My Line out to TV in PLayback mode. The image seems OK when I connect to TV in Record mode. Could this be Dirty Heads? If so, how can it play on zr800 screen ok but not TV or Computer? Please help? Craig
