I am looking at buying a Canon HV10 and I noticed in many sites that after you record an hour of HD onto the Mini DV tape, that it is equivelent to about 13 GB. Once I get it onto my computer, can I burn all of this HD video onto a DVD without degrading the quality? And also, the only DVDs I have seen can hold 4.7 GB. How would this work then with 13 GB (1 hour of HD)? Is there some other kind of DVDs I would have to buy that are made for storing HD video? PLEASE HELP ME!
THANKS

I’ve got a Canon HD video camera using Mini-DV tapes.
Do professionals use Dv or Hard Drives?!?!?!?!?
I have to settle an argument with a freind. i own a canon hv20, which is HD DV tapes (hdv tapes). He owns a hard drive video camera (its also hd, but i don’t know what its called)
He thinks that professionals use hard drive video cameras.
That makes sense, i use to also think that too.
cause its new technology, and it can hold more,
and now, after talking to many people, (fry’s employees, school film teacher, sister, mac genius people ) They all tell me that tapes are what professionals use.
WHo is right?

Is the DV-OUT reading alright with HD capturing?
My firewire connection between my computer and my Canon HV20 reads HDV/DV on the camera’s LCD screen. However, the reading changes to DV-OUT when capturing into Adobe Premiere or importing into iMovie. Is this just a standard reading or should it be reading HDV-OUT when working with HD footage and editing software preset are in HD?
Ah, actually found the correct answer. Page 40 of the camera’s manual, it tells how to change the output to "HDV-OUT". Not very clear way from the index to find it and it took some trial and error on the camera’s menu. I appreciate the time and effort taken on the response I did get.
Is it possible to import back to a Canon ZR-700 Mini DV?
Record a home movie, transfer to iMovie HD, edit and record back to the camcorder.
